“In war, numbers alone confer no advantage. Do not advance relying on sheer military power.” — Sun Tzu, The Art of War Chapter IX, Marches, Verse 45
For any entrepreneur, this is an inspiring message. If you are already in the startup trenches, or thinking about entering the startup battlefront, memorize these wise words of entrepreneur wisdom — because the greatest military strategist the world has ever known offers them.
Believe me — I have been there myself as an entrepreneur and investor more than once. When you start your startup, you’re going to feel understaffed, over stretched and under financed — especially if you’re self-funded.
You will feel you need more people, more money and more money ... and more money ... in order to beat your competition. Rest assured that it doesn’t have to be that way. In the startup marketplace, numbers alone confer no advantage. You must think like a Commandopreneur and advance into the market not by using sheer force but through innovation.
Continuous and disruptive innovation will guide you quite nicely through the rough patches of your market battlefront.
